About RTI in Jammu and Kashmir
The Right to Information Act, 2005 empowers Indian citizens to request information from public authorities. In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, citizens can seek government records, administrative decisions, public expenditure details, and information about government services, subject to the exemptions under the Act. Applications should be directed to the relevant public authority holding the requested information. The Jammu and Kashmir Government has introduced an online RTI portal to facilitate filing and tracking applications and appeals with participating departments.
